We all remember the 2006 elections . The beating that the cons took and the promises that got the dems their victories . Every news outlet in the country acknowledged that this was a statement from the people that they wanted troop withdrawals. . . and NOW . Then of course we all remember the countless Non-Binding resolutions that many of you lauded as the first steps to the ultimate goal of troop withdrawal .
Now us cons argued two points with ya then . .. . 1 . - We should stay in Iraq and finish the job . . . . and 2. - Many of us cons made bold predictions that this was all a farce and the although the dems publicly used the anti-war message to get elected , it wasn't likely that they really meant it . We asserted that it was all done for votes .
Today , well today we now see the major dem candidates talking about troop withdrawal by 2013.. . . MAYBE .

So - Tell me something - How Are You Taking The News ?
Did Your Guys Lie Or Have You Changed Your Mind With Them ?

You’re misinterpreting what the Democratic candidates are saying. There are differences between their positions but the differences are not that large. Some are saying that a few troops would remain in Iraq to protect the embassy and maybe certain special ops counterterrorism operations and others are saying that all the troops should be out.

I fully support bringing our troops home from Iraq. I understand, however, that some troops may have to remain to protect the embassy and perhaps perform some other ancillary functions. Almost all of the combat troops that are currently trying to police Iraq will be home. That is basically what the candidates said. I agree with that.

I am more moderate here but I believe the Dem Presidential candidates are talking more conservative on Military matters because they have to eventually win many electoral votes in the South and Midwest from the Republican contender to win the Presidency.

The Dem landslide mostly happen in the House and in seats that weren't heavily Republican but were more swing districts.

The Democratic majority is not enough to override a Bush veto or even block a Republican filibuster in the Senate. The best they can do is block future war funding, which they are more willing to do after the report of the surge was complete a couple of weeks ago.

No one knows what the situation in Iraq will be like in January 2009. If a candidate answers too definitely these cons will come back in 2009 with – but she said she would definitely take all of the troops out of Iraq if she got elected but, look, she hasn’t.

It’s better to hedge your answers about future eventualities. In any case, the Republicans, with the exception of Ron Paul, are saying stay the course and that is just not acceptable.

Who and or whom keeps vetoing any chance of withdrawing the troops???What party recently shut down the possible withdawal of troops(hint:Republicans) What group went into Iraq in the 1st place knowing that they had nothing to do with 9/11???What terrorist group has been selling all of their propoganda on this since 2000 or so???Who has lied on a continual basis about the whole thing???Of the terrorists what countries were they primarily from???If your government told you that mars is a candy bar only would you believe them as well??? You might as well even England is pulling out in 2008 Canada the main ingredient in Afghanistan on the front lines there may pullout in 2009(God willing) so why didn't the President start to pull out troops after Hussein was hung???I could easily keep going however Adios from Brother Tim M Murphy

It is unfortunate that the Democratic Party is a bunch of spineless cowards. They don't take firm positions on things, and if they do, they are informed by the latest public opinion polls and not their own moral character.

I am definately a liberal but I am definately not pleased with the democratic party . All I know is that the Republican Party doesn't match my views (not by a long shot). If the Democrats did everything they said they were going to do, things would be different.

I'll be honest. I don't like the Republican Party. But they take principled positions on things and actively try to accomplish their agenda. I admire their character and their courage to actually say what they believe. I just wish the Democrats would do the same and pursue impeachment, immediate troop withdrawl, etc.

I don't think either parties serve my interests.

I hope that answers your question.

It is great. The Republicans are falling right into our plan. As the Democrats propose withdrawls per the will of the people the obstructionist Republicans, who obviously don't care about the will of the people, continue to obstruct these bills forcing them to not be passed. What few are passed are subject to Dubya's veto pen because he doesn't care about the will of the people either. So in order to keep the troops from suffering the Democrats pass the money bills further depleting our already strained treasury but that's okay because all of this will be great to use against those obstructionist Republicans as they seek reelection next year. For those not seeking reelection they will see themselves in a very small minority or replaced by a Democrat depending on if they are in the Senate and not up for reelection or are retiring. No lies and no changing of minds here at all. All is going as planned.

What's funny is Ron Paul is the only candidate that wants immediate troop withdrawl and hes not a democrat!

I don't think the Democrats lied at all.

I didn't think they had any idea what they were talking about.

After watching last night's debate, that they don't know what they are talking about is demonstrable.

They got caught off guard. Russert looked like he suddenly grew a pair the night before. They were not ready for pointed questions and were all over the map.
They ranged from irrational to confused especially on the war.

(Hillary better knock it off with the glib, cutesier, witty routine when the general election rolls around or Romney will eat her lunch.)

The "Dems" and the "Cons" that you are talking about are all on the same side. Duh!

The only real anti-socialist anti-globalist "Dems" and "Cons" are Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich-neither of whom is likely to win because most people in this country just care about superficiality and who has the most face time on their boob tube.

Dennis Kucinich(a "Dem") called for the immediate withdrawl of our troops. He is doing this now, as he has been doing for years!
