My husbands best friend passed away in a motorcycle accident about a year and a half ago. His name was Kaleb Charles Jalowi. I am 35 (almost 36) weeks pregnant with my husband and I's second child. We want to name him after Kaleb but we arent really big fans of the name Kaleb or Charles. So we want to know if would be weird to name him Kaleb Charles but call him KC (like the name casey).

I think that is a wonderful thing to want to honor your husbands bestfriend in this way... but, sense you dont like the name itself a lot heres an idea. You can name his first name whatever name you guys decide you want for your baby.. and use Kaleb or charles for the middle name... that way you are still honoring him but yet your child has his own name that you like.. Just a thought.. what ya think? Thats what I would do.. :-)

Sounds like a nice way of remembering your husband's friend, just make sure you tell the child about the man he is named for (but not why you call him KC!). But be prepared - children often get called by something other than the name parents intended. My mother wanted to call my brother Joey (a diminutive of his name) but by the time he was a toddler he only answered to his middle nmae. That's what he likes. My nephew, same thing. I had a nickname for him and when he was 5 he told me that it was a baby name and he wanted to go by XXXX. No more baby name for him!

In the Jewish tradition, you don't use the same name, you use the initials. You could just name him K.C. or if you have a K name that you do like, use that instead.

although i hate the name Kaleb, i think this is a great way to honor your husbands best friend. Plus the initials KC has a good nickname feel to it. Go with it!

i like the name kaleb, but if u dont like it, then u really shouldnt use it. maybe instead of using kaleb and charles, u could use a different first name and use one of your husbands friends names as a middle name.

Not weird at all, but very kind and thoughtful. And don't let anyone tell you differently. I like KC or "Kaleb Charles"--it's manly!

KC is good .........some kids might eventually tease him and call him Kentucky fried chicken -it seems that kids find a way to twist any name to tease others.

You could name him Charles Kaleb and call him Charlie or
Chaz or Chuck
I personally like the nickname Chaz

that's fine. If you were just naming him KC,it would be a little weird, but if that's just what you call him (not what's on his birth certificate, future drivers' license, etc), i don't see any problem with it. I actually knew a Korean girl in High School who went by KC. i thought her name really was Casey until the yearbook came out. But that's fine

ya, thats fine. casey is a pretty nice name for a guy. the only thing is that when people call him casey, people might not realize it is KC and when he says "my name is kc", they will think its casey and that could be a prob in places like school or work(like if they write down casey on his papers instead of kc). but anyways, it nice.

thats cute for a little guy but I always think you should choose a name that would sound great when he/she is announced as the prime minister. Prime minister Casey (KC) just does not command respect. Why not use one of the names as a second name.
