Ok. I'd like the knowledgeable to help me find all the wizards, magicians and other witches in the bible, especially the old testament. I'd particularly be interested in finding whether any Hebrews, Jews etc (Samaritans, whatever) are mentioned for doing it and what the book says of them. (was the witch of Endor Jewish?)

Please mention book and chapter, I'll need to check all that for my essay.

I am looking off the New International Version. I took liberty with the term "wizard" or "magician" to include astrologers, wise men, magicians, diviners, enchanters, etc

Genesis 41:8 - the pharaoh calls his magicians to interpret a dream, which is eventually interpreted by Joseph; would you consider Joseph a wizard of sorts?

Exodus 7:11 - pharaoh's wise men and sorcerers by their "secret arts" turn their staffs into snakes as Moses and Aaron had done

1 Samuel 28 - Saul sees the witch of Endor. Endor is a Canaanite village.

2 Kings 23:24 - King Josiah expels spiritists and idols from Judah and Jerusalem

2 Chronicles 33:6 - King Manasseh of Judah "practiced sorcery, divination and witchcraft, and consulted mediums and spiritists."

Isaiah 47:13 - warns against the Babylon's sorcery

Daniel 2 - Nebuchadnezzar has a dream, which his astrologers talk about in Aramaic (spoken originally around Damascus and throughout Meopotamia. it would later become the official language in Assyria)

Daniel 5 - after seeing the writing on the wall, Belshazzar calls Daniel to interpret; Daniel had been appointed by Nebuchadnezzar as the head of the magicians, enchanters, astrologers, and diviners after interpreting his dream in Daniel 2; would you consider Daneil to be a sorcerer?

Acts 8:9 - Simon the Sorcerer meets the apostles Peter and John

Acts 13:6 - Barnabas, Saul, and John meet a Jewish sorcerer

Acts 19:19 - after Paul preaches in Ephesus, some Ephesian sorcerers burn their scrolls

There's a start for you. Hope it helps.

In Daniel, that king observed as upon his magicians and astrologers to interpret the handwriting on the wall. interior the tale of Joseph, the magicians and astrologers tried and did not interpret the kings desires, so he despatched for Joseph.interior the recent testomony, Simon the magician confronted the disciples.

Well, there was the Witch of Endor in 1 Samuel 28. I don't know if she was Jewish.

I'm not incredibly "up" on this subject. However, I strongly suggest you read "The Sign & The Seal" by Graham Hancock. He goes into excellent detail about this, especially with Moses (who is a "wizard"). I wish you the best and I am very curious to see what you find, if you'd be willing to share.
