Torpor actually comes from L. 'torpor', a masculine 3rd declension noun, meaning 'numbness, paralysis.' That did come from the verb 'torpere', meaning to be numb, paralyzed.

Don't think your list has a word that fits the second blank. What does fit is 'prediction', which comes from L. preposition 'pre', meaning 'before', and the past participle of the verb 'dico, dicere, dixi, dictus', meaning 'say, declare, state.', hence 'a thing said before'.
