are they trying to tell...spirits have a way of affecting electricity?

they draw the energy from electricity to manifest hence the lights flicker.

It just shows that ghost take up energy.In real life that wouldn't happen.I have a seen a ghost before,and none of the lights flickered!GOOD LUCK!

Flickering actually affects the audiences neural rhythms. Thus, flickering enhances shock and/or fear.

Mostly SPFX for movies. In real life, some of them are just on a "power" trip I guess.
