my foot hurts really bad about where my foot and second toe meet. There is no swelling. Right now I made crutches out of two brooms because it hurts to walk.

Usually there is swelling if there is a break, but since it is in such a strange place, who knows if it would swell or not. Very creative on the brooms! I would Wait for a few days and then if it is still bothering you I would check with a Doctor.

Depends on the persons body. The reason it would swell is because the change of blood flow (not as smooth) and your body is sending it things to help heal. If it's not swollen and it is broken then your probably have a bad immune system or heal slow. The best way to find out if it's broken is how well you can move it.

You don't necessarily have to have swelling and have a fracture.
But your brooms are not good choices for crutches.
First you need to have your foot evaluated by a physician to determine if it is fractured. If it is, he will treat it properly.

No, it can be broken and not be swollen. That happened when my little boy broke his arm. The nurse from the nurse hotline told me not to bring him in because it wasn't swollen, and when I finally did take him in 3 days later, we found out it was broken fairly badly! Fortunately, they were able to set it easily, and he's fine now.

You might want to go get it checked out! Feel better soon!

no there doesn't have to be any swelling, i fractured my wrist, thumb, and chipped my pinky all at once, and there wasn't the slightest bit of swelling! i would suggest iceing it for now, and go to a doctor tomorrow, but if you really think its broken, go to a doctor as soon as possible

well if your toe is broke there is not much to do about it because it is mostly cartiledge so dont waste time on getting a hospital bill you probably wont never pay just keep off it and keep it elevated with a cold compress
