There will always be acts of racism unfortunately. So I'd say no, we've come a long way but there's much more work to be done as a society.

My feeling is that the younger the generation, the more enlightened and the less prejudicial - racist or otherwise - they are.
Not to say there are no young racists, or that some won't become racists later. But the older generation eventually fades away, and leaves the younger one in its place.
It is a big country, and so of course I am not saying racism is about to be eliminated any time soon, but you asked about trends, and I think the overall trend is coutner to the way you asked about.
Do you have evidence otherwise?

Those who say racism is the same as always are the biggest racist. I do not trust them as they have some agenda.
BTW, blacks are always reminded how badly they were treated by Muslims. Funny how people who enslaved them in the first place before selling them to Europeans,now want to convert them to Islam.
