Felons vote Democratic, national study says

If disenfranchised felons had been allowed to vote, they would have swung the 2000 presidential race to Al Gore, according to a national study Republicans are touting in their fight to overturn Christine Gregoire’s victory in last fall’s governor’s race.

The study posits that since racial minorities and the poor – groups that tend to vote for Democrats– make up a disproportionate number of felons, a hypothetical felon voting bloc would be so overwhelmingly Democratic it could swing national and statewide elections.

On average, 74 percent of felons would have voted Democratic in presidential and U.S. Senate elections dating back to 1972, according to the study’s analysis of demographic and voting data.

The Democratic Party should do some heavy soul searching. Do they really want to be the party beloved by:

1) Druggies and burn outs
2) Dumb, loud mouthed, rebellious college kids
3) Welfare mommas
4) Uneducated immigrants
5) Wanna-be hippies and faux '60s protestors
6) Felons
7) Draft dodgers and anti-military people
8) People who are "soft on crime"

Here is the embarrassing comparison. Conservatives are like the polite, well-mannered, impeccably dressed tennis fans at Wimbledon. Liberals are like the dirty, shirtless, obnoxious, out of control soccer hooligans at Wembly stadium.

Conservatives are athletes like Pete Sampras and Tiger Woods. Liberal athletes are badly-bahaved, drug-taking, borderline criminals types like Michael Vick and all the wife-beating, heavily-tatooed gangsta' rap-listening guys you see in the NBA.

Some people simply do not place emphasis on living in a civil society, and those people are Liberals. Those protests that illegally block traffic, burn flags, destroy property and taunt the police are exclusively a Liberal phenomenon. You never see Conservatives behaving so abominably.

Most felons share this type of mindset and lifestyle. Hence, they are not inclined to vote Republican. The Democratic party best suits their interests.

To understand why felons vote so overwhelmingly for Democrats, imagine each political party like a parent. Republicans are like the responsible, stricter parent who insists you do your homework, take a bath, and go to bed at a reasonable hour. In stark contrast, the Democrats are like the permissive aunt who sometimes watches the kids while the parents are away. She lets the kids eat whatever they want, doesn't make sure they study, and doesn't even realize when they sneak out of the house to vandalize the neighborhood.

That's your answer. It's obvious why felons vote so overwhelmingly for Democrats.

It's obvious. Felons would vote dem because the dems want to go easy on them and also both dems and felons hate America. Libs are afraid to accept the fact that evil exists in the world if it's not George Bush.

Felons vote for Democrats because the Democrats are pro-Victim Disarmament to a much more extreme extent than the Republicans. Criminals benefit from these "gun control" laws because they're armed and their victims are not. Felons and potential felons support Democrats because, due to their idiocy, they make it easier for felons to commit more crimes.

There is a HUGE assumption in here. It is that since the demographics that make up democrats and felons are SIMILAR that felons would have voted democratic.

That is not a rational conclusion. No one checked out what felons would have actually done. I am betting most of them would not have voted at all.

Well, no one else has said it so I will, the liberal way of thinking is more in line with the criminal way of thinking. It's based on feelings not on thinking. It's like "it feels good to me so I will do it". They do not think through the consequences of their actions. In fact, they are proud of being bad, we call that "criminal pride".

I also agree with those who said that its based on wanting entitlements.

I work in a locked facility for juveniles and both the kids and the staff are majority democrats.

Because the dems don't believe in prisons. Felons love that line of thinking.
