Were pants initially designed for men only? Is a woman wearing hijab not supposed to wear pants even if they're loose enough not to show or reveal the body's characteristics? Many fatwas claim it is ok for a woman to wear pants, some forbide it. My fathe who is a very strict and conservative Muslim never allowed me to wear pants outside home. However, now that I'm married, my husband is fine with it. so girls, what do u usually wear? do women wearing pants go under the category of "almotashabeheen men elnisa2 bel regal"?

I don't even own a skirt!
Well maybe one... but my friend bought that for me so I could wear it to this family gathering... n I have NEVER used it again!

My opinion... pants are much safer than skirts... cz u have to be very careful while wearing a skirt... that one time I wore it I thought I was naked from waist down!
AND... when u walk with skirts on... it kinda goes up... n wouldn't ppl see all ur business if that happens?! AND isn't that UN-Islamic?
Winds n stuff could easily lift ur skirt... lol... again... UN-Islamic! :D

So in my opinion... if u wear pants so u would be covered better then there's nothing wrong with it in Islam...
Plus I've NEVER heard anyone say that they wear pants just so they could feel like men :D so there's nothing wrong with it since there's no switching of roles... :)

EDIT:
I forgot to say that I always wear pants along with manteau (long jacket)... :)
SO... my hips don't show :)

I agree with Moonrise and add that the women dress according to Islam, should not reveal, not transparent, not descriptive. This is a translated meanings from hadith of {PBUH}.
As a man I can tell you that most of the time I miss to see ladies wearing dresses and loose skirts.

Look Ruby, Islam is a flexible religion not a tough or hard one, so, whatever clothes you wear that satisfies Islam guidelines for women's wear, it's OK. So, a loose pants that won't reveal your body shape is OK. Islam guidelines for women's wear are basically:
It should cover all her body except face and hands.
It should not be transparent so that it shows your body.
It should be loose not to show your body shape (characteristics).
It should not be attracting attention.

loose pants with long tunics over them(prefered below the knees) is ok.....because this satisfies the conditions for the right hijab.......
i dnt think they are "tashabboh" i can wear pants under my abaya, does is still considered tashabboh?i dnt think so because guys dnt wear pants with tunics over them....
even though i prefer skirts but i find my first suggestion better...
imagine a girl falling down infront of a crown and she wears a skirt, wouldn't pants be a better thing then??!!!

the salafiyeen object to women's wearing pants.
moderate islamic countries / families allow pants for mohajabaat on condition that the contours of their bodies arent obvious.
this can done when the woman wears a longish blouse /jacket that covers the hips.
the muhajaba should look in the mirror after she is dressed to see how she is able to cover all that might catch a man's eye..

My wife wears pants with hijab. It's OK as long as it does not describe any of her body and we make sure that it does not happen.

I think it's ok...u just have to ensure that the pants you wear isn't tight or short like baggy ones..it's loose, comfortable and doesn't show your body.

actually baby i do wear pants and its ok with my family although my father is little bit conservative but he sees it as its my freedom and personality and once he said to me "amrek m3 Rabena enty keberty wi shofy eh sa7 wi eh 3'alat".

i also wear skirts, dresses and everything. i like changing my style and i don't see myself as "motashabehat bel regal"

God Bless Us All
