FORGOT TO ADD THIS PART:
i'd like it to be a poignant, touching story too; one that really dives into the character's personality

That's hard, because I can pinpoint different aspects of different author's styles that I enjoy--like Julie Garwood can create characters you really feel for, or Lillian Jackson Braun can create an atmosphere (setting) that is appealing, even to the point of making you hungry when her character sits down to dinner, or Stephanie Meyer has some fun dialogue. But to describe a single author's style that I love? I'd have to go back in time--Poe, Jane Austen...Shakespeare. That was real literature.

Jeffrey Archer has an extremely comparable writing type to Sidney Sheldon, and regardless of my dislike for him, I did rejoice along with his books. they have a lot of twists and turns and do keep you fascinated. in an identical rollicking solid study vein, Jilly Cooper is large exciting, as is Jackie Collins, yet they're extra soapy. in case you are able to cope with activities analogies, Harlan Coben is fab. i've got at present got here across his books or maybe though I have no wisdom of or interest in American activities (the biggest character is a activities agent), i'm very much taking area in them - do exactly not take them too heavily!

Clive Barker's writing style is both sophisticated and down-to-earth. He really makes you get to know his characters and he makes you see and feel the environment that he writes about. Check out Imajica or Abarat.

Kyra Davis is one of my favorite new authors. She's metropolitan and laid-back, and she's definately snarky. I love her Sophie Katz murder mysteries.

I'm a fan of Dean Koontz's style of writing. It's easy to understand without being boringly simple, and he has a lot of underlying (or sometimes blatant) humor and sarcasm.

I recommend Odd Thomas and Life Expectancy to start off with! :-]

I do NOT like Stephenie Meyer because her characters are very weak and not likeable. , But I DO like Amelia Atwater Rhodes style of writing. She writes very descriptively, and creates a visual sense of a dangerous, mysterious aroma, that is enticing and makes one want to read every one of her great books! I also happen to enjoy J.K. Rowling's style of writing, she writes very descriptively also, and her characters are those that anyone can relate to.
