800*2*1.95/20 = $156

800/60 +1 = 14hours 20 minutes

Part 1:
800 miles x 2 (since its both ways)= 1600

1600miles/20 mpg = 80 gallons

80 gallons x 1.95 per gal = 156$

Part 2:
im assuming 800 miles is how far the relatives house is)

800 miles/60mph = 13 1/3hours + the hour stopping time = 14 1/3 hours

1/3 of an hour x 60min =20 min. So the final time is 14 hours and 20 min

Piece of cake:
1) our car does 20mpg and the trip is 800miles.
So we'll need 800/20 = 40 gallons of gas.
At $1.95/gal. all you do is 40 x 1.95 = $78.
But that's ONE WAY - you want roundtrip? multiply by 2 = $156.

2) Assuming that the "relatives home" is the home you wanna go to by traveling 800 miles....
800miles / 60mph = 13 and 1/3 hours or 13 hours and 20 minutes. Add one more hour of stops and the answer is 14 hours and 20 minutes.

Everything clear?

Part 1:
800/20 = 40 gallons * $1.95 = 78 each way, or $156 for a round trip.

Part 2:
800/60 = 13.33 + 1 = 14.33 (repeating) hours

first double the mileage for trip to and back

800*2=1600 mi

next divide that by 20 to figure out how many gallons of gas are needed

1600mi/20mi/gal = 80 gal

next multiply the cost per gallon.

80 gal * 1.95 dollars/gallon =$ 156

if you notice, if you keep units on the numbers they will cancel each other out as you go so you know if you are doing things correctly.

next

800mi / 60 mph = 13 hrs and 20 mins

plus add the hr for stops

14 hrs and 20 mins one way

The answer to part one is 40 times 1.95 (i dont know the multiplication off the top of my head)

Part two: Assuming its 800 miles as above, it would be 800 divided by 60, plus 1 hour

Get it?

Part 1
800m/20mpg = 40gal one way x 2 = 80 gals for the round trip
800m/ 20mpg = 40gal
40 gal x 2 = 80gal
80gal x 1.95 p/gal = $156

Part 2
speed is 60mph at one way is 800m
800m/60mph = 13.33 for one way
13.33h x 2 = 26.66 hour for round trip
26.66hours + 1 hour stop = 27.66 hours = 27 hours 40 mins for a complete round trip with the stop included
