"U.S. Senate voted to pass the Matthew Shepard Act, which updates and expands the federal hate crimes laws to include bias motivated violence based on a victim’s sexual orientation, gender identity, gender, and disability, and provides new resources and tools to assist local law enforcement in prosecuting vicious crimes."
"The Senate in a bipartisan vote of 60 to 39 accepted cloture which ended debate on the bill and then moved to approve the Matthew Shepard Act by a voice vote -- attaching it as an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2008 Department of Defense Authorization bill."

No, not going to happen, and there aren't the votes for an override.
Bad law anyway. There shouldn't a federal law that punishes people for what they think.

Even though the big thing is the LGBT community this year, I'm afraid that he will not sign, and most likely with f*cking veto it, as most of the d@mn republicans are so uptight that they are nothing but haters and so if I hear that he have flat out vetoed it I won't be to terribly shocked.
I think that Congress will override it because most of them are now afraid that if they don't they will get replaced by open-minded Democrats that will push it through with a lot bigger margin than it passed with this time.

Well, since it's attached to the defense authorization bill, he might, if he likes the defense part of the bill. But I suppose the congress also had some other amendments to the bill that the President won't like either. So, it's hard to say.
I REALLY wish that bills couldn't contain amendments in them that have nothing to do with the main part of a bill, and this is certainly an example of that.

Bush will veto, it'll be sent back to congress and they'll over-ride the veto.
True, as of right now there isn't enough Republican support to override the veto, but I think the Republicans are trying to do whatever they can right now to distance themselves from Bush, so they'll pass it. Afterall, they're only 6 votes short.

I dont honestley know. President bush has vetoed so many bills that would benifit this country during his tenure as president. I have a doubts as to wether he will actually let this one through... He seems to be on a roll of not doing things to actually benefit American's..

No.... I don't think the idiot will sign it... And I think they only way congress would press the issue to override it, is if they get a lot of negative feedback (ie. calls, letters, conferences, etc). from the LGBTQ community and their supporters..
