i watched it in the way it was intended to be seen (at the THEATRE) and it has more effect that way-although i could have used an intermission between them, but that's where the fun part was (the faux trailers). i actually liked planet terror better as well-it kept in line with the genre. it's a real shame that they seperated them though-you're now expected to pay 2x as much to see it!

...of course, we're once again looking at a situation where the film producers and distributors have the gall to think that they actually know what the audience wants; couple this outrageous notion, with that of atypical corporate money-grubbing, and we the viewer/buyer end up being the suckers. In this case, with the original theatrical presentation of "Grindhouse", here in the U.S., the film regrettably bombed because, per sources over at the Dimension Pictures camp, with the exception of those most eagarly familiar with and ready for the 'grindhouse experience', it was determined that most people felt that they did not have the patience for, and shyed away from the three-and-a-half hour presentation, despite the fact that it WAS a double feature...
...no patience, huh??? Funny thing that general audiences were pegged as not having enough patience for "Grindhouse", yet have no trouble sitting through a three-to-three-and-a-half hour presentation of any of the "Lord of the Rings" movies....Go Figure!!!
...meanwhile, overseas, the film was shown as two separate features (albeit extended), because the film's producers and distributers once again determined that no one outside of the U.S., was even remotely familiar with the 'grindhouse experience', as experienced back in the early-to-late '70's, and early-to-mid '80's...
...unfortunately, the game plan over here, stateside, is that "Death Proof" (...the second feature of "Grindhouse") has been released separately on DVD, using the extended cut, which played overseas; next month, the first feature, "Planet Terror", will also be released separately, and in an extended version; reportedly, this is being done, in an attempt to recoupe money lost during the 'failed' theatrical release...
...although I'm sure that it will eventually happen, the impending release date of the true version of "Grindhouse", is nowhere in sight; the true die-hard fans of the original theatrical version of "Grindhouse" are being made to forcedly chomp at the bit, until that fateful release date...
...it's pretty much the "Kill Bill" story, all over again; in a similar fashion, the originally intended epic-lengthed "Kill Bill" was chopped in half, into two parts for theatrical release; folks were made to fork over double the money, for what was originally intended to be one epic-lengthed movie. The DVD release of the two parts, was equally money-soaking. Now, in November, the true epic-lengthed "Kill Bill" will finally see release on DVD, via "Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair"; and having already forked over our hard-earned dollars for the two separate parts, you can bet your bottom dollar that most, if not all of us will line up for the special edition epic version, as well...
...all in all, it's a big money game, and we, the movie-going (...and DVD buying) audience, are being played as suckers!!!
Shame on you, Dimension and Miramax, shame on you!!!

they did now not placed them on the two of the dvd's-isn't that only incredibly nerve-racking? i've got heard hypothesis that they are making plans on re-liberating them returned next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and in step with possibility we can desire they are going to be on THAT disc? looks like a awful advertising gimmick to me! i assume interior the period in-between, you will only would desire to observe them on-line.
