it probably won't come with the software.

i know i should download itunes from the apple site, and buy a cord for it (if it doesn't come with one)

but is that enough for my computer to recognize it and everything?

how does this work?

Yes that is all you need for it. Usb cord and Itunes to get up and going. The usb can charge it so thats all set. You basically get itunes, connect the usb to the computer, computer will recongize it and it will come up in itunes, then you start syncing from there.

Ipods are garbage. you should get something that you can just drag and drop your song files onto instead of having to use stupid software like iTunes. Get an iRiver. It's a complaetely different company with all of the aforementioned qualties.

once the ipod is resetted to factory settings (you can do this when it is plugged in) you can make that computer the one it recognizes and vice versa. it will ask you to register the ipod after it is fully reset.

I just bought an ipod on ebay... it came with everything I needed! You just have to read each item... and see what it offers. Each will vary!
