i think icc shud clarify it...many people r callin it world cup...
and sum beleive its a championship ..

As Montitude pointed out, the name is insignificant. Its the popularity of the occassion that matters most. I think T20 is a World Cup for sure. I have heard many commentators and players calling it a World Cup. Now, since all the international teams in the world clashed out for the cup, it is technically a World Cup. And, judging by the way the post match presentation and all the other celebrations went around, people, players and all consider it to be a real World Cup.
T20 World Cup is here to rock the entire world and make other non-cricket playing nations turn to cricket. Good for cricket ultimately!

Officially it is "ICC World T20 Championship" South Africa 2007, its not world cup and ICC will conduct it after 2 years interval

I heard it because of 2011 World Cup. ICC does not want to have two world cup in one year. I think too much T20 is killing the other forms of cricket. T20 definitely a plus for the cricket in my opinion. It's fun and entertaining.

its world cup just 20 overs i read an answer where a guy said that it is fake and is lottery ticket is that true i hope not bcuz im from india (but not hindu) and india won it could be championship becuz its called ICC World t/20 Championship

It's official name is 'ICC world twenty20'.
Now the name is insignificant here. What matters is the importance & this tournament was one hell of a special event in the history of cricket.
In my eyes it's the beggining of the biggest PHENOMENA ever in cricket.
I think this 'Twenty20 Championship' will be a huge success & it will beat the 50-50 world cup in all departments

actually its neither, its more like a mini world cup... with all test status teams participating, it can be called world cup, but much shorter version of that ... so call it mini world cup
