1.
a) . Pentane
b). Pent-2-ene
c). Ethyl Propyl Ether
d). Hexane
e). 1-Aminopentane

2.
Mg x 1 = 24 x 1 = 24
Cl x 2 = 35.5 x 2 = 71
O x 8 = 16 x 8 = 128
24 + 71 + 128 = 223 (Mr Mg(ClO4)2

Moles = mass(g)/Mr
1 mole = 223g/223
So molar mass is 223g.

1)A-pentane has five carbons and each may only form four bonds. a doble bond indicates an alkene (B), an oxygen in the middle of the molecule makes it an ether (C), (D) has six carbons (hexane) and (E) has an amine group, NH2, which would need a different name.

2)molecular weight of Mg+molecular weight of 2 Cl's+ molecular weight of 8 O's=total molecular weight of the compound.
