The logistics of performing what you are asking is ridiculous.

It would be like arresting every person who is lighting a joint; driving with a BAC over .08; running a red light; speeding on the highway...you get the picture.

Each person is entitled to Due Process, or to be able to go before an administrative Immigration Judge and plead his/her case. What if the person is really legal, but got deported?

Besides, the government would have to allocate funds to conduct more hearings, hire more judges, build more holding facilities, and hire more prosecutors.

We're talking billions of dollars.

It's not so easy because, for over 30 years, we as a nation have been purposely ignoring the breaking of immigration laws. I remember that in the 1970s there was a huge influx of (mostly Mexican) illegal immigrants, and most people sort of thought it was harmless or even beneficial, since they were getting jobs and people were hiring them all over the place. It seemed that they were really needed, so why not?
In hindsight we can see that if we wanted the immigrants (and we did) we should have modified the laws so that they could come legally, rather than just ignoring the laws. Now we are faced with the need to reverse a longstanding situation for which our nation is partly responsible. I needs to be done, because we now have enemies, not only friends, who want to cross the border illegally, and we need to protect ourselves. Yet we need to take into consideration the tacit encouragement we have given to these illegal immigrants, most of whom are just regular people.
Another issue is the fact that we need to maintain friendly relations with Mexico. During World War I, Germany offered Mexico the states of Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona in exchange for helping Germany invade the US. Mexico said no. We would like Mexico to give the same answer the next time our enemies make them a similar offer. Nobody seems to mention this. But Mexico has a good deal of corruption and even political assassinations; it's not impossible that our enemies would try to woo them into their camp.

North American Union.. stupid ideas like this, that aren't based upon fact but divisiveness. The reason is reality. The law is there, but how would you enforce it? Drag anyone who you thought was an illegal and ship them back? Too many innocent people would be involved. The reason they don't enforce it, is because the law is not enforceable. You can regulate it allot better. But there is NO WAY to enforce it.

The people who believe in North American Union don't understand the Constitution. The only way for America to merge is to bring it up through Congress and then be voted on by the American People. People are either paranoid or just playing with others paranoia.

While I completely agree with you on following the law the answer to the problem is just not that simple. There is no way to lock down the border. For proof of this just study the history of the Berlin Wall and it's lack of effectiveness overall. We can deport these people, but they will just return at first possible opportunity. As long as there is a will, they will find a way. What we need is comprehensive reform in this area.

The trick to stemming the problem is to remove the incentives. Make it impossible for them to find housing and work. We can accomplish this by imposing strict penalties on landlords and employers. By strict penalties I mean jail time in a real prison. Additionally we need to require that anyone trying to receive medical treatment, or public assistance without proper documentation is reported to the authorities for investigation. Remove the ability to send their children to school. In short, make it just too difficult for them to be in the country illegally.

I am NOT against immigration...my God, imagine if my ancestors hadn't emigrated to the U.S., where would I be, WHAT would I be today?

The problem is...NO BORDER CONTROL...and now we are overrun with 20 million illegal aliens who have strained our Economic and Health Care systems, created new waves of crime and all sorts of criminal activity and basically have sapped the quality of life right out from under the citizens of the United States.

We simply need to finally close our borders and set up practical immigration controls as to who and how many enter our Country and, do it SOON...although it's too late to repair the damage that has already been done to our society by those hoards of illegals already here, perhaps we can do something to quell the influx of the NEXT 30 MILLION that are already making their plans to illegally enter the U.S.

Their is a high cost associated with enforcing deportation, and with closing the border. You might not look at those numbers, but the government does. Analysis has shown that illegal labor is propping up business in this country, and you know how government loves business, so why would they increase funding to drive down American business? It makes no sense.

Yes you are right your country need to DEPORT ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS OR ALIENS. I think it would be very easy to DEPORT them because you have all the means to find out where are they. Your modenization is quite enough to locate them. I think your country needs them anyway and that's the main reason why you cannot DEPORT them. When they apply for a visa your country already know where they are going and to whom they were going to stay with but still you hardly DEPORT them. You keep those illegal aliens but don't allow visitors/tourist. I don't understand.

I think it's been proven that it's impossible to enforce the existing laws no matter how much money we throw at the problem. I also think a fence would be another money waster. People will always find a way to come into the country. What we need is a way to track them, and an easier path to citizenship. I believe that most people who come here would love to be legal, but since there's so much corruption in the system, money will always buy you a place that should have gone to someone waiting in line.

The common sense, legal solutions are not being applied because the ones in charge have other agendas and are listening to other voices than the voters. It is like hiring a yard man and watching him cut your neighbor's grass. The people have to join together to kick them all out but not make the usual mistake of replacing one set of crooks with another. We have to monitor the government DAILY.....not just at election time.

I agree with your comments 100%. Illegals are here because of the mighty $$$$$$. Cheap labor and that is what Bush and his business pals want. All illegals should be rounded up and deported.
