I changed from BT Broadband to a new provider on 25/06/07 that was the switch over day. Ive just received an online bill from BT for the period 13/06/07 to 11/09/07 seeing as I only had 12 days in that quarter with BT can anybody tell me if they`re entitled to charge me for the full quarter. I was`nt in contract with them and they have in fact already taken the money from my account. I cannot find any reference as to whether they`re entitled to do this and to try and contact them on the phone is a near impossibilty

If i break down the 3month bill into 1month segments
The period between 13june to the 13th july is one month
in that time you were connected to bt broadband
even if you had switched to another provider on the 13th or 14th of june you would have to pay for a complete 1month block of bband its not itemised in anyway
because you had allready entered a fresh month with bband which started 13/06/07 as you say you left 25th of june but that is still midway through a 1month block of bband
now from 13th july through to 11th sep =2months you have been charged basically for a 3month block of bband
if you include the month i was just explaining about
THe only thing i can think of is did bt require a 3month
notice from you to quit bt bband because that is how you are charged Quarterly and are you paying the new provider via bt bills ,because you have to have bt as the landline provider for bt bband ,you stopped btbband but did you change over completely to ie: virgin bband the lline rental charges would then be out of bts hands and one bill from virgin charging you line rental and bband is all you would get in the post

the bills are created in advance on the 1st day of your billing cycle in your case 13/06/07 has you left bt on the 25/06/07 you are entitled to credit for the remain period.
instead of ringing customer service on 150 heres a number the goes straight through to the dept you need and will short out for you. tell the advisor what happened and they will sort for you 01324 450716.

Don't even talk to me about BT Broadband- I hate them with a passion!!! Don't give up though complaining- I managed to get almost £300 in credit for all their mistakes.

Never accept their first offer of compensation- they will always go higher!

Threaten them with Ofcom- the telephone ombudsman

Always ask to speak to someone in higher authority as this puts the fire under whoever you are talking to and makes them a little bit more helpful

KEEP A RECORD OF WHO YOU TALK TO EVERYTIME YOU CALL- most important thing and note down dates and times and any advice the person gives you.

Not sure but in all probablity it will take another 3 months to recifiy the mistake indeed if one occurred. I thought with BT you paid your rental in advance.

If you still have direct debit with then try and get your back to cancel it for you.

Hope things get resolved. I find BT terms and conditions and not very clear to understand I must admit.

A little tip if you try and to phone them again and after you have keyed in your phone number and then they ask you to press yet another button well don't and if you hold you will get through to customer services very qucikly. Not alotta people know that.
