Elway holds a record---The most sacked QB of all time----I dont see how that stat could get you the rating of best ever.
Favre by far the Best QB of all time
3 superbowl appearances--with one win
THE ONLY 3 time NFL MVP
Holds the record for most wins
Will hold the record for most TD's after Sunday
His starter record is just unbelievable "Iron Man"
He can throw and handle the ball like no other QB ever FACT!!
He may just take GB to the Bowl this year.Mark my words
Favre could play for the worst team in the NFL and change there season.I dont think Payton or Brady could
Favre could out throw Montana or Dan on his worst day.If Montana and Favre got in a Football fight Favre would have a black eye-Montana would have 2 and be knocked out.OHHH and how did Enjury prone Montana do when he didnt have Rice to throw at?and why did he get traded?Montana was a short accurate passer that played on a realy good team thats it.And Dan Marino what did he ever do that was special? Most TD's?Well thats over ant it.
and as far as the Interceps go.For the winningest most QB who cares!!Also that was do to roockie recievers or trying to pull a win out when they where loosing anyway.

I consider him the best right now . Your right football is a team sport and Favre would be the first one to say so . He's always cared about winning not records . He aways gives teammates credit after a win . People seem to think if you don't win the Super Bowl your no good . When he won his first he said the best part of it was the journey there with his team throughout the season . He will set allot of records but the best one will be that he was a decent , honest and tough football player respected by his peers . It would be great if he could get to another Super Bowl before he retires . This could be the year .

Mike and Mike were discussing this the other morning and they basically said he is already ranked up there with Montana, Elway, and Unitas and now has all these records for QB's but unless he goes 16-0 and wins the superbowl this year it is unlikely he will surpass any of those 3 for best QB ever. He is easily up there with them though, and a SB this year will just prove once more to those who think he "throws to many interceptions" that he deserves to be talked about with them.

Favre has a long ways to go, if you consider SuperBowl wins ... Montana and Bradshaw both have 4 wins each. Many argue that Joe Montana is the best quarterback ever, because he combined his Super Bowl wins with fantastic statistics. He holds the second highest passing record in a single season, the most consecutive games with 300 or more passing yards, most Super Bowl touchdowns, and most completed passes in Super Bowl History. He also holds the second highest career pass completion record, the third highest number of seasons with 3000+ passes, and the third lowest interception record.

Favre is one of the best quarterbacks, but not the best ever. More than likely he will not even get to another Superbowl in the 2-3 years he has left. He may break most of the quarterback records (including most interceptions all time) but winning Superbowls is what counts as much or more than individual records. He is up there but not as good as Montana, Elway or Unitas.

nope. I didn't consder Marino the best ever. Favre has one superbowl win.
Montana has 4 Rings and 3 Superbowl MVP awards. 31 come from behind wins, and still holds the record for most post season TD passes (45) and yards.
He is the mark I judge all other QB against.
Dan Marino was a great quarterback, but he was hardly the best of all time. Favre will be Marino's records, but he's got along way to go to even come close to Montana.

OHHH It is a TEAM sport but IF HE GETS 1 or 2 MORE SUPERBOWLS. So Montana's TEAM got his 4 Superbowls, but FARVE would win them on his own? Great logic. Really great logic. Montana's TEAM would be 4-0 in the Superbowl. Farve would STILL have at least one loss, oh I'm sorry that would be the TEAM that lost and it his him when they win them right? Nice logic buddy. How about all those INTs of Farve's? How about how he is likely to pass the RECORD for INTs this year? That disqualifies him to me. To me a GREAT QB is Montana and Marino. A great QB is someone that you don't even have to ask if they are great. Farve is good, but really not as great as his fans want to make him out to be.

No. Favre is one of the greatest ever, but Elway is the best of all time. He has started in more superbowls than anyone else (5). He took a bad Broncos team to the bowl 3 times single-handidly when Dan Reeves was the coach. John Elway has the most fourth quarter comebacks of all time, he is arguably the most "clutch" player ever. John Elway was a great qb on a bad team until Shanahan got there in 95. All of a sudden with some help the Broncos became a dominant team, and won back to back superbowls in 97 and 98. Favre is great, but he had a lot more help than John did. John Elway took a bad team and made them contenders, and took a good team and made them back to back champs.

Must be real cold in the UP if you think Green Bay is going to get a Super Bowl within the max 5 years before Favre retires. Personally I think he has this season and maybe only one more before he calls it quits.
I don't think you can call any of them THE greatest except within their time period. Although the basics are the same the game changes too much to make a true comparison and nothing lies like stats.
Like you said, its team sport, who's to say the "greatest" QB wasn't some poor schmoe stuck with terrible teams, dull coaches, inept GMs for his entire career and thus was never truly appreciated? The greatest arm is useless without a target.

Favre is one pain killer overdose away from an undiagnosed broken hip. He'll retire after a disappointing next year and sell Wranglers on the street in Louisiana.
