ha, I know what you mean. Caller ID doesn't help because some of them are friends that you really don't mind talking to on occassion, but you know they are the TALKERS. After "catching up" for 20 minutes, the person is still going on and on and on and they'll get mad if you go without a decent reason.
I have one friend like that who I love hanging out with, but when we are on the phone he never let's me get a word in. And if I do get a word in, the conversation revolves right back to being about him. I've used every excuse. Phone dieing, boyfriend calling on the other line, in heavy traffic so I can't be distracted, etc.

Oh yeah I've done that. Sometimes I've even had to do it in person. One time I faked passing out to get out of a conversation with this creepy guy who followed me back from the laundry room when I was deployed.

I have done it but just for people that keep on talking (the ones that can talk for more than three hours). I think you can do it when they are just talking about worthless things. I have told them that someone else needs the phone or that I've got to go, so I hang up.

Yep, always the same, I tell any tele-marketers or salesmen to call back and talk to my wife, she's at work and she's the boss! They rarely do.

yeah, but not to my good friends cuz they normally always have good stuff to talk about and i enjoy talking to them.

but sometimes there are people who talk on forever! so yeah, you have to come up with an excuse.
