Theres two types of diffusion.
Facilitated- which is passive and doesnt require oxygen. Its like rolling a ball down hill, doesn't require any energy really.

Active- Which requires oxygen/atp to power the diffusion. An example of this would be like rolling a ball up hill. Your going to have to push it and in turn expend energy.

But what type it is depends on what kind of membrane and molecules your dealing with.

Diffusion does not require oxygen, though oxygen can diffuse.

Diffusion is just the net movement of molecules from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration.
