Some people defend the kids who hung nooses from a tree saying that this act was not illegal. Though it may not have technically been illegal, it could still be considered a threat to kill. Maybe six black guys jumping onto a white guy could also be considered not technically illegal. It happens in football all the time. The problem was not the hanging of a rope, but the threat it posed. Just the same the jumping was not a game; it was a violent attack.
So for those who defend the hanging of the nooses as technically not illegal, let's see if you can list some things that blacks have done that may seem racist but were not technically illegal. The first example that comes to mind for me is Kanye West's claim that George Bush doesn't care about black people. It was a racist comment but not illegal.
After considering the many acts of racism on both sides, explain how any of these benefited society rather than tore us apart.

Hanging nooses is illegal and those rat skunk filth should have been charged with a hate crime.
What Kanye said was not racist; it was the TRUTH. I feel the same way as Kanye. Bush is a racist pig.

I'll just say this. When Bush was governor of Texas he had 155 black men executed. Some of these men were wrongly acussed. Kanye West's statement was not racist.

Kanye West's comment wasn't racist in my opinion. President Bush is the first president in decades that didn't at least pretend like blacks existed. Even Ronald Reagan and Bush Sr. acknowledged our existence.
Sharpton's comments about Jews was racist.
The nooses aren't just hanging ropes, that was the pre-death exercise of white supremecists in the slave era all the way till the end of the civil rights movement.
White people get the UNCF too... and they own BET... who's next?

George Bush doesn't care about anyone but himself, so technically, Kanye West's comment was not racist.
And to the first poster: ANYONE can be racist (black, white, asian, latino, etc). Get off your moral highhorse.

You made good points. Being racist isn't illegal. What's illegal is acting on your racism and committing a crime. One can tell me anything he/she wants, words can't make me commit a crime or put myself on the level of a criminal. I, alone, am responsible for my actions.
