Which is the best anti virus program that are available for laptop these days? My friends told me that as long as i don't open porn sites then my firewall would be enough to protect my laptop. is that true?? and i heard that norton antivirus makes your computer real slow..

Your friend has given you very bad information. A firewall will only protect you from rogue packets incoming and protect your private data from leaving your pc without your permission. (If you are using Windows Firewall, then you are only get incoming protection and that is not a true firewall).
You get what you pay for in antivirus program. Stay away from Nortons, even if it was free as it is a resource hog, does not clean anything, and is alsmost impossible to remove from you system. Leaves about 375 fragments glued to your registry, files, folders and hidden all over your system
I use an antivirus program used by the Govt., of China. You only pay a one time fee of $29.99 for life and you get all new version and auto. updates. Light years ahead of any other antivirus program out there. Never had one virus in ten years,. Plus the program will stop and upload any file you download in real time that does not have a valid signature, or from an unknown source. (To many features to go into).
Open any web page with hidden embedded trojans, and Twister Antivirus will kill the virus in real time.

a firewall is used to only block viruses
an anti-virus is used to detect and remove viruses.

viruses and spywares is every where mate,not only in porn sites.....u really must have a good antivirus in your system,firewall only prevent intrusions and prevent those hackers from accesing your personal information.
There are many good antiviruses which is betetr than Norton and more light on your system...I would suggest Nod32 or F-Secure as they are top rated antivirus and won't slow down your system too much.

No that is not true. You can get viruses from places other than porn sites. Although porn sites are a major source for some viruses. AVG offers free antivirus for home users. This is very good antivirus that does not slow down your PC.
