Dancer in the Dark, Little Children, Joe Dirt, Rat Race, Cube, At Play In The Fields Of The Lord, and American Psycho.

Two films that I was pleasantly surprised by are "Being John Malkovich" and "The Fifth Element".

I thought that "Being John Malkovich" would just be weird for the sake of weird (and maybe it is...), but didn't expect it to be any good. Turns out I was way off.

And everything I'd seen of "The Fifth Element" before I actually went to see it made me think it was just a cheap attempt at marrying Star Wars and Die Hard. And now it's one of my favourite sci-fi flicks.

Lord of War and Zodiac are 2 that kept me enthralled. Office Space was far better than I had expected. Roan Inish is a small, perfect little film that not many would pick up at the rental store or the library.

I tend to go into kids' movies with fairly low expectations but did find myself really enjoying Night at the Museum. It didn't get great reviews but it was fun.

I am going to agree with the dude who said that he expected any of the "Kill Bill"s to suck. I was actually impressed.
Some others: "The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc" (I was surprised by Milla Jovovich's acting ...I **** you not...she was brilliant in this movie. never thought I'd catch myself saying that about her acting.."Garden State" was actually not a bad movie at all. And more recently, I was expecting that movie Room 1408 (the one starring John Cusack and Samuel Jackson) to be a cheesy, overly-produced thriller ... but it was pretty good. some parts were genuinely creepy

I also recommend "This Is England" ... awesome movie http://www.watchtvsitcoms.com/

Well Mr Spears, you are maybe just as awesome as me. I don't know At Play in the Fields of the Lord though.

Rage, Lucky number Sleven (spelling), and Hostel to name a few. There was also this movie that blockbuster.com recommended to me can't remember the name, but it was about an intertwined group of UK robbers/gangsters, the groups all somehow intertwined with each other in the oddest ways. If you likes Snatch, you'll like this one, maybe someone else can help me out with the name.

I was surprised by the Kill Bill movies. I thought they would be crud, but they were pretty good. As long as you don't mind A LOT of blood.
George of the Jungle. Such goofiness, I just loved it.
