Yes, actually. And that was the year I also learned not to wear the kind that ties on each side.

it wasn't yellow polka dot, but it was itsy bitsy teeny weeny
well at least the size they made them in the 70's.
i remember when i had my appendix out summer after 5th grade - i asked the doctor to make sure he did a good job so the scar wouldn't show.
but then i never weighed more than 98 lbs except for the summer i worked at the dairy queen - then i went up to a whopping 103 !!
after my first child -- i'd give anything to see 103 again !!!

I looked all over for a yellow polka dot bikini, but the best I could come up with was a yellow gingham bikini. I had a blue itsy bitsy string bikini once in 1950. My uncle worked in Hollywood and brought it home to my mother. She gave it to me when I was three. I wore it until it fit me, in my teens. I wish I still had it... for nostalgia purposes only. LOL

I have a yellow bikini with white polka dots, but it isn't by any means "itsy bitsy" or "teeny weeny". It fits me and suits me well - not too tight, not too lose.

Juuuuuust right. :)

Yes. I had my first job helping my friend at her parent's restaurant. I was 15. I worked all summer but after 2 weeks I could afford to buy the 2 piece pink and white polka dotted bikini. It wasn't a string bikini, my dad would never have let me. A few weeks later a friend and her sister asked to borrow it and I never saw it again. But I was so proud to be able to buy it for myself.
Thanks for the forgotten memories. I love them!

I had a pink & black polka dot bathing suit, it wasn't a bikini. I'm not saying it was old fashioned, but I might still be wearing it, if it weren't for the holes in the knees and elbows! lol

Ah, yes, those were the days! Mine was bright red and extremely itsy-bitsy, back in 1968. I used to see an American serviceman every time he came to Sydney on R+R from Vietnam. He was a reconnaissance photographer and was always taking pix of me. He told me that he used a pic of me in a "come to Australia" poster, wearing that red bikini. Who knows whether that was true, but we had some great times at the beach ! Thanks for reminding me of some sweet memories !

Blue polka dots--had a much smaller one later and no dots. Used to ride horses with a bikini top on and jeans and a baseball hat.

It wasn't polka dot. But the answer is yes. And have to admit it still do when I go to Mauritius.

And when the beach is a bit less crowded. My stomach is still flat so until it gets bigger I will carry on.

no, but i was a child when bikinis were first introduced and they made what people wear nowadays look like the difference in granny panties and a thong! they were cut just BARELY below the belly button instead of barely covering your pubic bone and none of your butt hung out the back. and the tops covered your boobs instead of your nipples only.

and to think the girls who bought and wore those early models thought they were being risk-kay (spelling it phoenetically b/c i can't do the little line over the 'e' in this program)!!! it was kind of nice leaving a little to the imagination instead of having the whole kit and kaboodle flaunted right in your face.
