I would say definitely talk with your doctor or pharmacist on this one. Every person reacts differently to medication so I wouldn't try to take this without the advice of a medical professional.
In order to maintain pain control, you need to stick to a schedule and take your medication even if you're not feeling pain. Once the pain is under control, you can review your schedule with your physician and a reduction in pain medication may be possible to maintain pain control.
If you are experiencing high blood pressure, call your doctor or pharmacist RIGHT NOW to discuss any possible side effects to any or all of the medications you're taking.
When I was in the hospital after surgery I was needing a higher dose of morphine while in post op but the doctors were afraid it would give me a heart attack. Since hydromorphone is about 10 times stronger than morphine be very careful and do not confuse the dosages of the two.
Good luck with the pain control and definitely TALK WITH YOUR DOCTOR!

as a rule, the opposite happens. The only time I have seen blood pressure go up with a pain med, was when the med was ineffective in managing the pain and the pain drove the blood pressure up. Unless of course you are allergic to the drug, then a great many things can happen, including driving the blood pressure up.

Being overweight, even 10 pounds, can increase blood pressure. You should make another appointment to check your BP again, and consider using medications for high BP. It could have been that being sick raised your BP, which does happen. When you feel ill, sometimes your BP can raise a little.

An overdose of hydrocodone 4 can cause hypertension, among other things. The other things include death.
Read about it here:

what causes the increase in bp would probably the pain you experience prior to taking the reliever. upon taking the reliever, your bp should slowly decrease as the pain subsides.
