Well, I guess it depends on what you mean by a "war". Was jumping into Grenada a war? Was the Baltic police action a war? What about the "cold war".. you "won" that, didn't you?

Of course, there are just some conflicts in which you'd be stupid to even get involved, like Vietnam...so maybe it's not a matter of being cursed, but more one of picking the right kind of fights.

I don't think we intend to win wars, we intend to intervene. Gulf War One was pretty much a military victory since it only lasted for about 40 hours before Saddam threw in the towel. Gulf War Two lasted even less time. The goal was to take out hostile regime, it happened. The idea of nation building is not something that military people want or do well. Thats politics. Nation building and peacekeeping are supposed to be the duty of the United Nations but it really exists only on paper. The military was not defeated in Vietnam, never lost a major battle. The military left when the politicians told them could but it was clear that they could have won that war if winning was the intent. It wasn't. It was political war started by befuddled liberal Dems who could not commit to anything. So the military wins wars, the people, the press and the politicians worry about the aftermath and muck it up. There is no one out there wanting to take on the US military so I guess we are not the pushover you think.

Yes because we have politicians who have never been in a war or has never been in the military to have a clue on how to fight a war. We are the only nation that still abides by the Geneva Convention! Cant shoot up at paratroopers, cant assassinate political leaders, etc, etc, etc,....BS! You fight a war to win for what you believe in. There are too many people saying bad things about war. So what!! You destroy, kill, and Mame. We have greatly educated Generals and Officers who have to explain exactly what we doing to great lengths to explain war tactics to individuals who are idiots who says yes or no. Granted, the war (or conflict) were in now is BS, because of the "misinformation" our government got. They did it wrong. We should have gone in with another Muslim nation and had them take over the reconstruction because they know the culture. Yes hind sight is 20/20, but lets keep war decisions with the people who have the knowledge, and don't have a political agenda

No, we are not cursed. We have not won some wars because we were not determined to.
As more of us understand the threat against our way of life, more people will be willing to make the commitment and the sacrifices necessary to win.

No not cursed, America just doesn't have good generals and dedicated patriot soldiers. Most soldiers don't have a sense of the world or their geography, i bet 3 out 5 won't be able to identitfy Iraq on the map and you expect to win a war with soldiers like that? Everyone was all pumped up after 9-11, "oh yeah, i'm an American i am serving my country, i'm signing up for the military" than what happened? reality hit them like a ton of bricks! most of the cry babies ran away from their posts and they are bad mouthing their own government and military on national tv; and you expect to win a war with cry babies like that? people like that should be hanged. You sign up for a military and you go to war, what do you expect war to be? its not 8 to 5 job and you get your lunch break in between. Size of your military doesn't matter, bodies don't win wars; dedication, patriotism, patience and intelligence does!

In the "good old days" wars were fought against a country who also had soldiers in uniform so each set of soldiers knew who their enemy was.Now our troops also wear uniforms so the enemy know them but as terrorists dress much like civilians it becomes very difficult for soldiers to recognize the opposition. A no win situation.

Korea was not a war -- it was a Police Action. And it STILL remains a draw, not a win.

Perhaps in time we shall learn not to follow leaders when they want to interfere in other countries' affairs. And to oppose them before, not after the event.

Check your facts, Einstein. That was a draw. If you insist on bashing your own people, at least have the courtesy to be accurate with your provocations.

Once again, leads with his chin.
