I do it! But then I don't have a nerve for stuff like that. If I want to go for a beer, I'll blimmin well go for one.
It does not feel weirdd to me, but every single one of my mates say that they couldn't do it.
I guess I am just very happy with my own company!

Because a bar is a lek. In animal behavioral terms a lek is a gathering place for males who then display their prowess to the females. Another lek is a High-School football game. The males are there to display; the females are there to choose. So a female at a lek is advertising that she's available. Most people will say that this is just about birds, but it's not. Anywhere where males of a species gather to display themselves and to contest with other males over the attentions of the females is a lek.

I could never do it. My sister could but she was a free thinker and very brave.
Society still thinks you are a "bad" women looking for "trouble"
I live in Las Vegas and you can do it there without anyone caring or even noticing but that is Vegas.I also live in Hungary, my husband said women NEVER go into a bar alone and some bars are stictly for men only,no "normal" women will go inside.
Women just get smashed at home.

Girls tend to be more social then men, and a girl alone is often taken a a signal that she's interested in finding a guy. This perpetuates the need to have some one with her, if only to avoid being flocked by over eager guys. It's sort of a vicious cycle, but I think it's getting better now.

One time most bars had a snug, this was a place where all the women had to sit and the men sat at the bar.

most lonely men in society have really no idea what to do in life, that is why they get married.
so a bar is the next best thing to finding friends and entertainment without looking far and wide.
women find their hobbies elsewhere thru family and friends and sitting at a bar (usually with only men) is not the best place for her.
according to our standards of thinking anyway.

Don't you watch all of those forensic shows on court TV? It is more vulnerable for a woman to be alone at a bar. Now a restaurant or other place is another matter.

men can b depressed 90% of his life if he dosent have a woman thats y he sits in a bar
but with a woman they usually always have men come on to them and mostly always hang out with there girl friends

if you have the guts to do it,women have inhibitions that men dont have I wont even have a coffee on my own so hears to ya do it
