There was a model on Americas Next Top Model show with that name and it was pronounced Jay-Elle. It's very pretty.

I like the name in theory, and do know how it's pronounced (JAY-el), but it's not one I would use in real life. It just seems a bit TOO in-line with so many current trends -- J names in general, not to mention the Jay- sound names (Jadon, Jaylyn, Jade, Jada, Jason, Jacob, etc., as well as all the variant spellings) and -el/elle ending names (Gabriel, Gabrielle, Abrielle, Aubrielle, Isobel, Annabel, et al) -- and the sound similarity to a mispronounced "jail" seems potentially problematic as far as teasing is concerned.
So while such an underused, but still real, properly-spelled, name would be refreshing, this one might have too many inherent issues for real life usage.
Ps. I see there was a bit of confusion above, so thought I'd mention that Jael is a traditional feminine Hebrew name that means "mountain goat." Here's a link to Behind the Name for anyone looking for the accurate gender, origin, meaning, etc.: http://www.behindthename.com/name/jael

It's pronounced Jay-ELL, as I recall, and like so many others have said, there was a girl on America's Next Top Model with that name. I think it's pretty sounding myself, but I know a lot of people would pronounce it "Jail".

At first I pronounced it as Gel, but when I think about it I believe that it would be pronounced Ja-eel.
I found this: The boy's and girl's name Jael \jael\ is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "mountain goat".
However other sites say it means "To Ascend" so you may want to just double check what the name means before you decide to pick on a name for any future children.

Yes, I've heard it as Jay-el. There was a girl on Top Model with the name. It is definitely different and not in a bad way; I wonder what it means.
