Anyone know of any rhymes/dits/sayings used for timing cannon salutes on sailing ships?

I've been reading too much Hornblower...

I read to much of" following the equator" myself,
Those nautical books can mess with you if you are stuck on land.
Dont know any rhymes,

I agree. "FIRE ONE, If I wasn't a gunner I wouldn't be here FIRE TWO, If I wasn't a gunner I wouldn't be here FIRE THREE" et seq. There's another much, much ruder phrase that I'm not prepared to air on here . . .
