hi. i work full time at a luxury store (full time+ commission).a few weeks ago i turned in my resignation because i wasn't happy with management. i get a call back from the president of our company and explained my situation. he asked me to stay and he said he would fix the situation. and he did.....which i am very happy about. now my 3 yr anniversary is coming up in 2 months and i was wondering if i should ask for a raise?the store isn't doing exceptionally well but the overall company is.i know the store is going to move (which is why he wanted me to stay) which will definitely improve money coming in.right now i am one of the few who have been in the store since it has opened and i make about the same as everyone hourly but the only difference is i make commission which isn't alot...maybe overall including commission it is basically $1-$1.50 more than everyone else who starts.

I would definitely ask for a raise. It sounds like you have been with the company for some time and that you are quite a valuable asset. I base that on the fact that the president called YOU to rethink your resignation and the fact that you make more then everyone else on the commission side, even though it is a couple dollars. I imagine that the couple dollars extra that you earn translates into hundreds if not thousands of extra dollars in sales for the company that the others are not capable of. Get what you deserve, being one of the more valuable sales persons for your company, and ask for a raise. Worse comes to worse, they will say they can't. In no way should it affect your job, and any worthwhile company knows how to take care of a valuable employee when the situation is deserving. In your case, GO FOR IT!

First of all, it is bad policy to discuss with co-workers what they are being paid. This often leads to ill-feelings towards each other and jealousy. Secondly, you have to ask yourself "do I deserve a raise"? I believe a person deserves to ask for a raise if they honestly feel they are worth it, not just because they've been with a company longer than anyone else. You are obviously already being paid more than anyone else when factoring in commission, so unless you are financially strapped, I wouldn't ask for a raise at this time.

I would definetly ask for a raise, you sound like you deserve it. The worst they can do is say no, and from the sounds of it they want you to stay with the company pretty badly. Just remember to be resonable about how much you ask for.

Good Luck!

Are you a SAHM? You know they say if you had to pay someone else to do all that a SAHM does they'd get paid $100,000 to $150,000 a year.
