Reflection is when light bounces off an object. Refraction is when it passes through an object, often changing the direction or intensity of the light.

Reflection occurs whenever light falls on an object. The law of reflection states that the angle of incidence (the angle between the ray and a perpendicular line drawn to the surface) is equal to the angle of reflection (the angle between the reflected ray and a perpendicular to the surface).

Refraction- Refraction is the bending of light as it passes between materials of different optical density.

Reflection is the hitting and bouncing back (reflection) of light in all directions. Refraction is the bending of light.

Reflection is when light bouces of something. a good example of this is a mirror.
Refrection is when light bends when is goes from one medium (material) to another. To help you more, it you put a pencil or something in a glass of water so it is half in and half out of the water you can see that it doesnt seem to match up whn you look at it.. This is an example of refraction.

reflection-to give back a likeness
refraction-to bend back when it passes from one medium to another
In other words the short answer reflection shows what is real. refraction changes the image

Reflection-a mirror
Refraction- bending due to different medium- poke a stick into a pond and it appears the stick is at a different angle, under water.

reflection is about light, and refraction is about heat.
