My piano teacher had one. One of SEVEN concert grands that he had in his house. Of course I wasn't allowed to play it but I was in the same house as one, does that count?

I acquired a Bosendorfer through a public auction some time ago and even then, it was quite expensive - $22K. Nevertheless, we should not believe that the instrument makes the pianist, since each piano manufacturer has their own standards by which they believe will attract future piano purchasers. And just because the Bosendorfer grand piano is highly prized and costly, it does not mean that the majority of fine piano artists will line up to purchase such grands.

And as a concert goer to many piano recitals , can you tell by hearing-- which brand of piano is superior? I think not.

So, perhaps a more appropriate question should be asked. What's the most affordable piano which provides the best piano action and sound for the buck? The answer is, according to most piano technicians: a Yamaha C-series [Conservatory] grand. And even the late Vladimir Horowitz recognized that the early accelerated action on older Steinway grands were not up to his standard and had his personal touring grand [piano action] modified with a Yamaha modified Renner-type action. Even the late Glenn Gould chose the Yamaha grand over a Steinway D to record the famous Goldberg Variations for Columbia because of the more exacting piano action offered by Yamaha. And the list of testimonials from many more Yamaha piano artists grows, day-by-day.

As for my occupation, I'm an SEO [Search Engine Optimizer].

Good luck!
