We have to discuss a legend in class. I read a few Native American legends, I'm interested in other types as well. Greek, Australian, Irish, and if anyone wants to share their favorite Native American legend, I'd be happy. Thank you.

I shared this is another post, but being a mutt, I have a lot of different groups to choose from. lol Some of my favorite irish legends were about Finn McCumhail (pronounced McCool). There were stories about him marrying a deer woman (I'm currently not positive if they had a different name). There was also a silly story about why he sucked his thumb before battles. lol (Reference "Daughter of Ireland" by Juliene Osbourne-McKnight. A fiction/fantasy, but weaves in a lot of irish folklore and myth)
I also likes the stories of the Selkies. They were people who were seals, but could shed their skin and be in human form. The story went that if you captured the skin of a sellkie, you could take that woman for your wife. However, if she finds her skin again, she will return to the water.
There is a family scottish legend, but I don't think that's applicable here. lol

Being a Texan, from shear patriotism, I've got to go with Pecos Bill. If you want a legend that is actually a person, You've got to go with Davy Crockett, he was in the US house of representatives and died fighting at the Alamo. At the same time he's known for grinning squirrels and other varmints out of trees for evening vittles and whistling up elks so good, when he was hunting big meat, the love struck does would near trample him.
