Typed in a normal format for 8.5X11 paper, in Times New Roman 12pt. About how long would a 300 page and 150 page book be? Presuming the book in paperback and normal dimensions.

This is the industry standard for determining the length of a book. You have to know the number of words - not the number of typed pages. Take the number of words and divide by 250. That will tell you the number of pages of text there should in the book on average. However, the actual number of bound pages will be rounded up to the nearest multiple of 16 if the book is actually "printed" and not digitally printed as Print on Demand (POD). Actual printed books are printed in "signatures" of 16 pages and then bound together - which is why sometimes you have blank pages at the end of the book.

When referring to the length of your manuscript, always give the number of words, not the number of pages. That is the sure sign of an amateur.

I'm not sure what you're asking--how many book pages from a 300 (or 150) page typed document? Or if you typed a 300 page paperback novel, how long it would be in MS Word.

I'm guessing the first.

Your best bet, if your book is typed on the computer, is to use your word processing program's word count function. An average novel comes in between 80,000 and 100,000 words.

But paperback books can be set up very differently (page size, font size, spacing, margins, etc.), so there's no easy ratio between manuscript pages and book pages.

It depends whether your asking about MS T.N.R 12 pt or typewriter T.N.R 12 pt. Also what do you mean by asking how Long.. do you mean you fat the book be? And how can a book be 300 page and also 150 pages.. basically not sure what you're asking here. Note you should say the number of words or the number of characters if you want to know how LONG a book be. A Book can't be both 300 page or 150 pages at the same time! What are you actually asking? Please clarify!

If it is double spaced with one inch margins all around, it works out to be about 40% more pages.

I recently printed my own book of 193,000 words, and it filled 688 pages.

In a typical paperback, I think it would be around 500 pages.
