Yes, it is ironic but in the professional world where parity is promoted and non parity is considered living in the days when only a few teams dominate and the rest were there for the ride it is not surprising therefore that neither team made the playoffs. Two reasons were the host of injuries for the Cardinals was tremendous and the Tigers did a little but did not shore up the weaknesses that cost them the World Series. But I still believe the biggest reason is the major league's hunger for parity .

LOL, it's almost be the true as both teams have new roasters a lot as change a little bit from last year. Across to NHL playoff this year as Carolina and Edmonton had missed the playoff when they made to Stanley Cup last year.

Nope. All "pro" teams are pretty evenly matched.. it's luck of the draw, as much as who's better... The thing that's amazing is when a team MAKES it to the Championsip year after year..(freakin' Yankees...!) Otherwise, the DL and like that is what makes one team have an edge over any other... like I said...luck of the draw..
Frequently an "old" team makes it to the Championship... then the team retires. The "start-over" takes time to work back into a cohesive unit... etc. etc
My favorite Phenom: my Arizona DIAMONDBACKS! Four year team; and CHAMPIONS! Ha! Soon: coming to a ballpark near you.. a repeat preformance! I hope. }:>
Um... I "sense" here that I'm not telling you anything you don't know...?

I'm not surprised about the Cardinals. I thought last season was an fluke never to be repeated. As far as the Tigers were concerned, I thought they would at least repeat as AL Central champs.
