It means...in essence...that you are 'full of yourself'.

You may be a braggart, think you're sexy, attractive.....anything along the lines where you have an large ego and you constantly look for someone to feed it or you feed it yourself.

So it translates to: "You aren't as special as you think you are".

You tell someone "get over yourself", when they are taking themselves too seriously, or are full of themselves. It's basically telling someone that they arent as hot as they think they are. It could also be used when someone is making a big deal out of nothing or being ridiculous over something. Example - "OMFG, you drank one of my cokes, I can't believe you would just come in and drink a coke that didn't belong to you, do I need to start locking the fridge or putting my name all over my cokes so you won't touch them, or maybe......GET OVER YOURSELF!!!!! cokes cost like, literally twenty-five cents, shut up!!!!!

Get over yourself simply means that someone (not you apparently) thinks more of themselves then they should. That they think they are the best of the best without reason.

It means it's not all about you. Stop thinking everything revolves around you and "get over yourself."

Think of telling a friend to get over a guy because they're obsessing about him... you say that to people who are obsessing about themselves or thinking its all about them.

It means you think you are the most important person in the world and everyone should change everything to please you - get over yourself just means you really aren't that important - get off your high horse.

It basically means that you think that you are everything and that you portray yourself as if you're better than everyone around you. Not you whomever you're talking about.
