Do you live underneath another apartment and if so do you hear them a lot walking and slamming doors? I've always lived on the top floor of buildings and recently moved to 2nd floor and it seems like I can hear the people upstairs doing eveything. Is this normal or should I complain to mgnt? They are not horrifyingly loud but annoying.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's almost like they are having some strange art exhibit where they make everyone dress up in lamb cloaks and project strange images onto themselves.

I live on the bottom floor, and it sucks. I hear my neighbors everyday. When they walk in certain areas of their apartment, my ceiling creaks. It's very annoying, but I'm actually a lot more used to it. I usually play music or have the TV on when I'm home, which helps me not focus on all of the neighbor sounds. I never hear doors slamming, though. That's something your neighbors can control, so it might be worth mentioning, but all the other sounds your hearing (walking, etc) are normal and uncontrollable. Just remember: next time, top floor!

I always pay more to live on top. The bottom sucks. On the top floor you still can hear the movements downstairs but not as much unless they are party animals.
We will be moving to a 55 plus building, I just hope the older people are more considerate.

That is the reason why I would only live on the top. Apartments are not built well and it's not their fault on top of you, they are just walking around.
