Is it weird that I want birth control pills just so I can stop my periods? Will the doctors give me birth control pills just because I want to get rid of my periods and if so what happens when I go into the doctors office.

I was told by my doctor that taking the pill and skipping your period can actually be bad for you. You should skip more then one period at a time.

We all hate our periods but its a natural part of life that we just have to learn how to deal with.

The pill will however reduce the flow of your period. You may want to speak to your doctor about it

I actually suggest the Depo shot. it stops your period completely & you don't have to worry about a pill everyday. You just go get a shot in the hip every 3 months. If you don't have health insurance go to your local health dept. they will do it for free. (well atleast the health dept here does). As for the IUD that was suggested above... you can only get that if you have had a child. and its not permanent either they last for 5 years (or less if u want) Thats what I'm going to get and they do lighten your period & after the 1st year its 90% lighter (almost no period) and some women dont even have one at all... anyway good luck!

same here. I had very bad periods with cramps for several days before. Then doctor put me on birth control pill, then the bad periods go away and very little bleeding. However the pill make me fat.

Its not really weird, I know a few women who don't mind getting their periods (they say they know they are healthy because they get a period) but most women would rather do without their period.

The doctors might give you pills to not have a period (Lybrel most likely, this one is supposed to make you not have any periods). They will want to do a pelvic exam before prescribing anything to you.

How old are you btw?

You should probably see the doctor about an IUD they tend to help more with that and they are a bit more permanent
