These people had health care insurance at the onset of there problems but lost it during their care. This could happen to anyone of us. Do you think this should be a priority for our country to come up with a better idea? And do you believe everything you hear about universal health care in other countries?

The study was done by David Himmelstein an assoc. prof. of medicine at Harvard. By comparing ourselves always to other countrie's systems doesn't help come up with a better solution for our country, can't think outside the box? Hopefully you will never have to have one of the procedures that many of our insurance companies don't cover. It's broke and it needs fixing!

Anyone who has actually dealt with the healthcare system here has ended up angry, frustrated, and understanding what we have been talking about.
Many of them use 'isms' to scare themselves. Socialism, communism...and we thought McCarthyism was dead.
The rest think Michael Moore is fat.
They think individual insurance is obtainable if you have a history of smoking or illness, they think you can see any doctor you want, they think its affordable, and once you pay for it, there are no deductibles or co pays. They think you can go to the hospital with the best record for your illness. They think all your bills will be covered and that they will be as long as you keep your payments up.
They think that insurance companies don't have control over whether or not you get an operation. They think that they are healthy and so why should they pay.
They are so wrong on so many levels, that I understand why they can't think of another way do to things. Its overwhelming.
But, they are wrong, misinformed, and lucky they haven't needed to use the system.
I think we need to take the best from each country, and adapt it to our needs and make it our own.
And for the record, I've never seen the wait time for patients in other countries before their 'socialized' medicine took place. Could they just have a shortage of doctors? I know I can see my GP in a day or so, but it can take several weeks to see a specialist, or months to schedule an operation.

What else would a liberal from Harvard say? Universal health-care would break this country in taxes. People go bankrupt for many reasons most of which is poor money management. Look at the current crisis in mortgages. Should we give everyone a house too?
The majority of those without health-care are either illegals or don't want it but can afford it. For those taking the risk they should pay the price. Bankruptcy isn't a death sentence anyway.

I think there should be a better way, yes. I'm not going to pretend I know what that is, because I don't.
However, I believe what I see regarding universal care in places like Canada. When their own citizens are saying they have to wait 3 months to see a dr about an infection, I believe it. I think universal care has too many problems. There has to be another way!! I know I don't want to be on that 3 month waiting list when something bad happens to me.

May I see proof of these figures, they seem kind of high.
That being said, if health care were so amazing in Canada, why do they come down here to get health care?
We do not need socialized health care. Period.

Biden voted to make bankruptcy tougher.
Did he betray America?
Have you called his office to let him know your thoughts? Have you fought to kick him out of office?
Canada and England just let a lot of people die. Older people can't get access to needed treatments as quickly as our parents and grandparents do.
