In my younger days I can remember many women with real problems with the skin on their hands due to being in water the whole time (sink bashed). Dishwashers along with washing machines are good for the environment and your health.

I grew up in a time when dishwashers were for the lucky, weathly, few...we did not have one until I was almost 14 (that would have been 1973)...and my Grandmother NEVER had one...I spent MANY, MANY hours standing at the sink....
I find anything like this a GODSEND...it is a "luxury"...but one I have gotten used to over the years...If I didn't work full time and try to run a household, I might could see not having one....but, there are more important things in life than standing in front of a sink...!!!!
We also did NOT have (while I was growing up), cell phones, microwaves, home computers, 200 cable-channels, VCR's (or DVD's), airbags, seatbelt laws, ATM's, debit cards...etc..and we made out just fine...they are ALL luxuries, but also Godsends...

If my dishwasher went out of action now, I would go out immediately and replace it. I do not use it all the time as for small items.
But boy oh boy it is so useful when we have family here and a lot of cups and plates and saucepans. And Christmas, oh my Lord, it's wonderful.
Every so often I get every item in the kitchen that I can lay my hands on and is dishwasher safe and wash the lot. Then they all gleam and looks lovely on the shelves etc. I do this because no matter now clean you are, items catch grease and dust even if you are not using them.

It is a supreme luxury but why not indulge sometimes!

I had a dishwasher, and I found it was great the way it really cleaned everything well, specially the glass. I didn't like how expensive the soap was, and the fact I also had to buy salt and rinsing liquid. Since I had to rinse the dishes before putting them in the d/w I thought it was a lot of water wasted, then it takes ages to go through the cycle when it would have taken me 15 minutes maximum, drying and storing included. All in all, yes, a great help and they clean well, but very wasteful and expensive way to do the washing up.

I used to hate dishwashers because I never had one (living in apartments) that would clean the dishes well. I bought a house a few years ago that had a nice new dishwasher and I, like you, fell in love with my appliance.

I like it after a party when you have a ton of dishes left to wash. Most of the time, though, I don't have enough to fill it, and it's easier to just wash the few pieces by hand. But I do like dishwashers.

A GOD Send because doing dishes is never ending at least you can hide them away until the dishwasher is full and then have them all clean and sanitized. Would not be with mine.

well its just like a washing machine! until it was invented washing was done by hand, but it obviously makes life easier.
I don't mind washing up by hand! its not that time consuming and a dishwasher is a luxury, i dont have one but thats becoz i havnt the room!

Godsend, I would love one but don't have the space. I hate washing up, it's never ending. would be so nice to cook a meal, sit down and enjoy it and not to have to think of the huge pile of dishes, saucepans etc. waiting in the kitchen.

I love my dishwasher, because I so hate washing dishes, also while it is on, I can be busy with other jobs.
