I did just replace the shocks about 2-3 months ago. I have been hearing some bumping/banging occasionally, this is why I am asking. I will try the bounce test today...

Sears? Gawd no, do not move there. Ask the individual doing the inspection why the struts have to get replaced. They cannot simply let you know they have to get replaced and no longer provide an explanation for why. Usually, the one purpose for exchanging struts is that if they're tired inflicting immoderate journey of the entrance suspension, noise corresponding to clunking, or if they're leaking externally. Yes, struts have fluid in them, however you cannot simply difference the fluid. the final purpose for exchanging a strut is that if it had been broken someway corresponding to being bent and inflicting the alignment to be off. Normally, struts are endorsed to get replaced in pairs, both each fronts or each rears. Exception to this rule is that if there's a concern with each the entrance and the rears. Most aftermarket locations corresponding to Midas, Goodyear, and so on., will in most cases promote you all 4 struts and mounts to hide their bottom to make certain the grievance is constant. Yes, although you're no longer riding a Benz or BMW, the rate for this sort of fix is steep. I lately did a pal's Grand Prix and the entrance finish store quoted her over $900. You have to discover out precisely why they're telling you the struts have to get replaced. It could even be a well suggestion to get a moment inspection, however do not point out some thing approximately the primary one, see in the event that they let you know the struts are unhealthy additionally.
