It is possible to tweak your settings, but you probably won't notice the difference.

Opera renders pages faster, but Firefox offers an Add-on that blocks advertisements which are usually graphics intensive. It's called Ad Block Plus and there's a database already compiled that you can download with it.

Dial up speed depends on the modem speed, its settings and the condition of the phone lines and whether there is interference on the line. The best you could really hope for is 50-52 k.

You can check in Control Panel, Modems, and then set the port speed to the highest setting.

It is impossible to speed up ANY connection to faster than it says it can do, whether it be 33kbps, 56kbps or 1000kbps. If that is the maximum download speed, that is all you can get.
