Is this what you are babbling about, this isn't a new issue.
George W. Bush (the 43rd president) is the son of George Bush (the 41st president).
John Quincy Adams (the 6th president) was the son of John Adams (the 2nd president).
Benjamin Harrison (the 23rd president) was the grandson of William Henry Harrison (the 9th president).
James Madison (the 4th president) and Zachary Taylor (the 12th president) were second cousins.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt (the 32nd president) was a fifth cousin of Theodore Roosevelt (the 26th president). Genealogists have determined that FDR was distantly related to a total of 11 U.S. presidents, 5 by blood and 6 by marriage: John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Ulysses Grant, William Henry Harrison, Benjamin Harrison, James Madison, Theodore Roosevelt, William Taft, Zachary Taylor, Martin Van Buren, and George Washington

maybe a little aristocracy. There is a class of politicians and they all seem to come from the same backgrounds, know the same people. But new people do enter the political field and people are forced out of it, so its not exactly like there's a fixed ruling class.

It has, by necessity.
Democracy was invented in Ancient Athens, a small City State. Later, in Rome, Augustus Caesar realised that a large, imperial country cannot be governed that way, so he altered a failed republican constitution into a form of limited monarchy.
So, today, as a reluctant semi-imperial power, USA has a form of democracy made effective by aristocratic and plutocratic elements.

i think whereever there are priviledged rich folk there will be abuses of power,, and the dems are the lesser of two evils in this dark time of the dubya,,,,, it's a time to keep your head down,, much like the days of nixon,,, except nixon's misjudgements came from a general mental condition of paranoid delusions, and dubyas comes from a mental condition of being dumb as a wet sack of hammers
