I got a belt from dad once and one of those frat house paddles from the elementery school principle (that would never happen in todays world)

A razor strop(thick wide hunk of leather used to sharpen razors), belts, hands, hot wheel track and just about anything else that was handy.
I remember getting wailed by the gym teacher as we came out of the shower. He had his initials drilled into the paddle backwards so it would welt up the right way on your butt.
If you did anything bad in school, he was the one that dealt out the punishment. A paddle on a wet butt HURTS!
Of course they would call your home so you would get it worse when you got home.
When that all stopped, we started having school shootings and ****** kids with no respect for ANYTHING.

Just a spoon. It didn't hurt much, but I still didn't like it. The lady that ran the daycare that I went to used to use a paddle on all the kids when they acted up. She even paddled the babies when they cried. She saw nothing wrong with it, so she did it in front of parents, and after a while, she got shut down. I was happy. She was a real ***** anyway, and always fed us brussels sprouts.

i got hand or a wooden spoon. my neighbor got the belt and when he broke his paddle ball toy (the toy where there is a ball and a rubberband like thing and your supposed to hit the ball on the paddle each time) his mom would drill 3 holes in it. that thing sure can leave a mark.

Belt, small wooden paddle/cutting board, wooden spoon and hand. And from that comes a very well adjusted young women who stands up to people that are bigger than her and can hold an argument and win. :-)
I was spanked very seldom though because I learned quickly what and what not to do.

My mom had this wooden paddle thing built for the sole purpose of spanking kids.. I used to hide it on her haha..

I am pretty appalled by these answers and am beginning to wonder if the government was right after all to think of banning 'smacking'. My mother never hit me at all but she had a pretty cutting tongue so I did my best not to merit her disapproval! At school, if we talked in class we used to get the ruler on our hands. Boys were caned but I don't think it was very often.

a belt, a flyswatter, a coat hanger, a shoe (all these at home)...at school, just a monster freakin' paddle...looked like a baseball bat ripped in half...

I always got the bare hand on my bare butt from my parents. That did the trick. I got the wooden spoon and flyswatter from my grandparents, that really stung.
