will you call for impeachment proceedings, or is that different?

As always, I value your responses.

I read most of the responses to this great question and noticed a couple of things. First, suthrnlyts has clearly demonstrated the hypocracy of the democrat party by asking them to do exactly what they have been screaming about since we removed Saddam.

Next, the answers clearly point out that many democrat responders here have no idea what their presidential candidates have said and done and say they will do if elected. Every one of them in a recent debate avoided making a commitment when asked to; however, each and every one of them has demanded a deadline for troop withdrawl. How hypocritical they all are.

Finally, this question helps demonstrate the lack of understanding of liberals when it comes to freedom. Freedom is never given; it is earned. If we want to keep our freedom, we need to earn it, and we do that by eliminating those who would take that freedom away. Many claim that Bush has taken our freedoms, but the fact is that the liberal democrats in Congress have and continue to try to take our freedoms.

If a democrat gets into office, the continuation of the war in Iraq is the least of my concerns. There will be many, MANY other issues that will present themselves as impeachable offenses.

That's why after last night's debates it seem clear to me the only candidates to vote for are Biden or Kucinich.

I really couldn't believe that Obama, Clinton, and Edwards all stated that there will be U.S. troops in Iraq in 2013. Probably not at current levels but even 1 brigade could militarily control a U.S. Embassy inside the green zone.

Aside though: You know I have always respected you for your stance on being a Republican who does realize that our government is secretly trying to push us towards a NAU. That being said I am really disappointed that you seem to be pretty smug with this question. As frustrating as it is that nearly every Democrat party citizen wants this war to end and the top three Democrat candidates have now openly admitted that they won't end it immediately, certainly there isn't even 1 Republican that would even try to end it and most of them are proposing more troops and more money and more war possibly even starting a 3rd front against Iran!!

I want Congress to impeach the President we have now. People keep quoting Congress approval rating polls. Hasn't anyone in the Republican party realized that if Pelosi would start impeachment proceedings against Bush the approval rating would rise to around 55-60%!!

I think the only way is to vote for a candidate who has stated publicly that will end this war
ASAP!! Namely Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich or Joe Biden!!

I think Kucinich probably doesn't have the backing but Biden and Paul do. Paul has the backing of people from both the Democrat and Republican parties!!

I think Paul would win if he went (I)!!

Let's not worry about impeaching the next President, let's vote the right person in and avoid it altogether!!

We really need to pull our troops out and rethink our foreign policy.

Sorry so long! Thanks for reading if you did!

Of course not, well maybe with the exception being Cindy Sheehan and her band of traveling loonies. The rule is once you are in power you do everything possible to remain there. The catchphrase will be, "It was Bush mess and now we have to clean it up". Bring up the fact that just a short time before that many of them were calling for impeachments and another political tool will come into play "deny and justify".

It should be noted though that many Democrats are not against the war, have not been calling for impeachments and are committed to seeing this through to the end. It is only in regard to the fanatics that this post is directed.

I don't think we have any choice but to keep the war going until Iraq is stable. That being said, the Democrat in question will be inheriting this war from GW Bush. I'd say the chances of using that for impeachment proceedings is very slim.

If the next president commits an impeachable offense, I will start calling for impeachment just like I did with Slick Willie.
OTT, the military commanders that are ON THE FRONT know one h3lluvalot more about what is needed than I do.

They are all saying they want to keep this war going indefinitely. How can you get into trouble politically when you say we are staying in Iraq and then do what you say. The Republicans will have a field day with this since now both parties agree on the most pressing issue. The bankruptcy inducing conflict in Iraq. Now we are back to immigration, abortion, taxes etc. This will bring many back to the fold.

That is different......
Presonally I have thought he should have been impeached for dereliction of duty because of ignoring national security and terrorism until 9/11 for a long time!
Collen Rowley (FBI retired) states FBIHQ obstructed terrorism investigations for four weeks prior to 9/11!Why didn't she testify before the 9/11 commission?Keep in mind her home office had Moussaoui in custody for WEEKS prior to 9/11!

The answer is of course, no. In fact the spin machine will come up with many interesting results. For instance, the war will immediately start running much better. The results will be great and the people of Iraq and the whole world, for that matter, will love us. That is, until we or our allies are attacked again.

Based on Russert's question to the Democrats, ALL but one (Richardson) said we'll STAY in Iraq...hmmmm, interesting question. Love the rhetoric. Of course, the answer is, they'll stay, but they'll blame Bush. And for the "blamers", they can check out the link in my profile for a trip down memory lane.

Every major Democratic contender has promised to end the war in his or her first term. When a Democrat is elected if he or she does not keep this promise I will vote for someone else in 2012.
A small but vocal minority of Democrats and far left radicals are presently calling for impeachment. Most moderate and reasonable Democrats prefer for our elected Congress to keep coming up with bills to extend childcare to children, raise the minimum wage, make education more accessible to every one, ethics reforms, and of course add accountability to any more funding for Iraq. Though there are plenty of grounds for impeachment, I think we should have learned what a costly waste a divisive and unsuccessful impeachment would be.
