ethanol is way better for the enviroment than OIL. Its also self sufficiency thats at stake. Once we have cellulosic ethanol our energy problems will be vastly improved!! Sorry she doesnt see the vision.

There is a difference between converting rain forest to ethanol farms and converting existing farms to grow bio-fuels. In the US, bio-fuels are not expected to replace land not already used for farming. So world wide - there is an issues here, but within the US it may be a slight net reduction in overall carbon emissions, and a definite reduction in the use of fossil fuels.

But this is not a democratic plan at all anyway. It is G.W. Bush himself advocating the expansion of ethanol

She's specifically talking about Asia and South America. Farmers in Nebraska are not cutting down rain forests to produce ethanol. She's just pointing out that the S. American countries and Asia are scrambling to get rich and are cutting down rain forests because they want to make money.

She's right in part. It's NOT good for the environment...I dunno about the whole trying to make farmers rich...

The Dems are a little misguided in their attempts to help the ailing environment. More research and education will help that.

AT LEAST THEY"RE NOT BURYING THEIR HEAD IN THE SAND LIKE YOU MINDLESS CONSERVATIVES.
