What do you mean no Pitchers? Dont you think the greatest ball player of al time was a pitcher? Ruth is hailed as the greatest.

Babe Ruth or Ted Williams. Ted Williams may have been the best if it hadn't been for going to war. He was definietly the best pure hitter of all time. Sad thing is he'd for as much power in the game as anyone while hit for as high or higher average then ichiro.

Babe Ruth. He not only held the record for most home runs for 34 years he has the highest slugging Ave. (.680), 2nd for on base % (.474), most walks (2055) and a lifetime batting ave. of .342. He did all this without steroids (unless you count beer) and in the "dead ball" era.
