...when the US has border issues in both Mexico & Canada, there's a water shortage, wildfires are burning our country away, gang violence has taken over many neighborhoods, illicit drugs are readily available, gas is three times the amount it was just a few years ago and worst of all, our young men & women are dying in the streets of foreign lands - for NOTHING!
There never WERE weapons of mass destruction and we have no right to tell Middle Eastern people how to live. I won't buy the line that if we don't beat them there, they'll come here. Hello! They're HERE! Why are we not strengthening OUR borders and taking care of our fellow citizens instead of sticking our noses into an already swarming hornets nest?
Before you answer the obvious, OIL or MONEY (the only reasons I can see) try to think why else we're over there instead of here. This is WORSE than Viet Nam and George Bush should go down as a worse president than Lyndon Johnson. We need to stop this TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just to clarify, I DO support our troops... just not our leadership. I DO vote and I was smart enough not to vote for this clown - not that the other clown would have been much better. As for "doing something about it" silly me, I thought starting a friendly discourse in a forum labeled current events WAS doing something. I won't go as far as calling someone "ignorant" because they have a differing opinion on oil but the next time you fill up your car, try and remember how much you paid for gas BEFORE this war began.

We are not there for oil or money. You should go back and read up on what that crazy dictator over there was doing.
It will only be another Viet Nam if we pull out too soon and make our hero's that have died already, die in vain. Have you forgotten 911? Don't think for a minute that Insane didn't have anything to do with that or didn't have big evil plans against the US.
If the idiot dictator didn't have the weapons of mass destruction then he should have done what the UN told him to do. He refused over and over so he got his just reward.
They are not here now, do you see any terrorist attacks here since 911? Do you see it in other countries? Yes!
Maybe you feel Hitler should have been allowed to continue his evil too. If you had been a Jew back in his day, you wouldn't have wanted the US to mind their own business, or if you were an Iraqi living under Insanes evil rule, you would appreciate the US's actions a h*ll of a lot more.
It's too bad there is an 8 year limit on term of office.
I hate to think of our country run by an idiot liberal dem woman, hope all you conservatives get to the voting polls and don't let that happen. If you want to see the ruin of our country and the worst president in history, let her get elected!!!

You say “we need to stop this TODAY” well why not get off Yahoo answers and attempt to take action where you can to do something about it? No major change has ever taken place by merely sitting back complaining about an issue instead of taking action.
We are at war – so deal. The least we can do is support the troops that are in Iraq fighting for our country.
Educate yourself, follow the issues, vote and more then anything find your information from somewhere besides the daily news.

I agree; we do have far worse problems that need fixing before we go trying to fix someone else's problems. Martin Luther King said the same thing about our intervention in Vietnam, and that's probably one of the things that got him shot.
I think this is also about George W. wanting to show up his father and/or make Dad proud of him. This war is an ego trip for him. And it's our intervention that made Iraq such a hornets' nest; our continued presence only makes it worse.
From everything I've read, Bush II was incapable of doing anything on his own except screw up. His family and friends intervened and intervened and greased the wheels for him to ensure he never had to face the consequences of his actions. He probably got a lot of bad advice from guys like PNAC and ignored the good advice from his father and the Dick Cheney of 1994 about the possible consequences of removing Saddam Hussein from power (complete destabilization of the country).
MIMI, I hope your husband comes back home well.

Because Iraq had previously had weapons of mass destruction, including gassing the Kurds. Part of the terms ending the 1st gulf war was that UN inspectors would have access to Iraq facilities to make sure there were no longer keeping these weapons.
Worked for a while, until Saddam decided to boot the inspectors out. The UN said, "Now, now Saddam, please let the inspectors back in or we'll have to ask you again." Saddam relented but then kicked the inspectors out again. The UN again said "Pretty please can we send our inspectors or we'll be forced to pass a meaningless resolution." Saddam again relented for a short while, then kicked them out again. Repeat a dozen more times.....
Point is, we had no way of knowing whether or not there were weapons of mass destruction, and given Iraq's past use and unwillingness to abide by the terms of the 1st gulf war, and the complete uselessness of the UN, there was good reason to suspect they may. It turns out to be incorrect, but it was not worth the chance.
While I don't agree with how the war has been handled, I completely agree with the need to take Saddam down.

I so totally agree with you. The president is an *** and should be removed from office. He has our children fighting a war that his father could not bring hisself to do.
That country had nothing to do with us in any shape or form, Bush needed to fight the fight for his father, and now look at us.
We have no military to fight for us if some other country wanted to fight us, are military is in Iraq.
Why are we no longer looking for Ben? the person we should have a war with as we all now he is and always be the problem. Bush let him go on purpose, we know they are in bed together.
This country no longer has a middle class america, unemployment is at an all time high, we are back to our country have a decifit as a budget, and house is a mess. Bush as screwed us in more ways then one, two or three and we continue to allow this person to represent us...Why?
I did not vote for him as I saw his fathers history we have wasted a lot of time, years and lives messing with the Bush administration.
I say we should impeach him, but it is funny how no one is calling for that.
IMPEACH BUSCH, IMPEACH BUSH, IMPEACH BUSH.
I thinks that Hilary Clinton should become President and Obama should be Vice President for the next 8 years, as they are both for the people, all the people not just the rich.

For starters....ANYBODY, (including you) who says we're there for oil proves their ignorance. If that were true....why are we shipping our fuel in to support the war effort, instead of using theirs?
As far as "weapons of mass destruction"....are you including chemical weapons into your thoughts? They ARE weapons of mass destruction, and Sadaam was testing them out on people in his own country.
Is that enough PROOF for you?

so they don't come back to our country to fight us so we weaken them and fight them over there. At a very large expense Bush has done a great job at keeping us safe.
He is trying to change the middle east to protect america in the long run. Hitler had to be stoped for mass killings no one would argue that now. in 30 yrs no one will argrue that sadam had to be stoped and the middle east had to be fixed. they kill
so many of there own people it crazy. Bush is a hero give him his due. he is wrong on border issue. wrong on not getting
iraq oil to pay for war. but right over all in protecting us.
thank him for your safty don't put him down.
