won't run
or it will run very very very slow
buy more memory. I suggest 1GB. no less than that.
you'll need to know what kind of memory you have.
you can pull the memory out and read the sticker on it, or dowload cpu-z and get the info through the program

check prices here. http://www.pricewatch.com/memory/

Get more RAM is my recommendation. Installing the game won't do anything to your computer. It'll probably either not work, or work so poorly that you won't want to play it. 256 is really little considering that you can barely run Windows XP properly with that little RAM.

256 Mb ram is not enough for most modern games. Aim for 1 Gb or at least 512 Mb.

You can install it. It wont mess up your computer. But you probably wont be able to play the game at all.
You should buy more RAM for the computer anyway, not just for the game.

You could experience a lot of system crashes. You can see if your computer can handle more RAM by going to Crucial.com and running a scan.
http://www.crucial.com/index.asp
It's important to note that everything takes RAM. Not only security products (such as active anti-spyware, anti-virus and firewall) eat up memory but your operating system, active browser windows, running applications (such as Word, Gaming, Messenger, Photoshop, etc) and malware all compete for system resources. The presence of Malware (viruses, spyware, etc) will particularly eat up your system resources so you may want to run your resident security products such as antispyware and antivirus applications to ensure that your system is clean.

The minimum system requirement for Burning Crusades is 512MB RAM; Recommended 1GB RAM.
I suggest you upgrade your RAM to the system requirements.

I recommend at least 1GB these days, 2GB is better though.
You might also want to have a good video card with at least 512MB on the video card if the game is graphic intensive.

512MB should be sufficient if you are running XP but 1GB will be better.
